Certified Medical Assistant Medical Office

Marion Women’s Health Center is growing again and seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our established practice.

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Job Brief: We are a highly respected and busy OB/GYN practice located in Marion, Ohio with four providers, looking for a hard-working Medical Assistant to join our back office team, someone who can demonstrate compassionate care, and is knowledgeable with basic back office duties. 
  • Healthcare Setting: Private Practice
  • Experience: Medical assistant: 2 years preferred (prefer certified, however if you have 2+ years working consistently in an office as an uncertified medical assistant, please submit your resume for review)

Medical Assistant Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:’include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing exam rooms daily
  • Prioritizing the order patients are roomed based on provider/appointment time
  • Assessing patients and collecting/documenting their medical history in our EHR
  • Adapting to schedule changes when providers are called out for emergency deliveries
  • Measure patients’ vitals signs, such as height, weight, and blood pressure
  • Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room
  • Preparing and administering medications/injections as directed by a provider
  • Checking fetal heart tones on OB patients
  • Placing OB patients on the Nonstress test (NST)
  • Helping providers with examinations as requested
  • Assisting providers with in-office procedures
  • Preparing exam rooms for specific procedures/exams 
  • Biohazard waste disposal
  • Specimen handling
  • Communicating with providers and other staff
  • Answer, assess and forward incoming phone calls
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Ordering back office supplies
  • Checking Gardasil benefits
  • Referrals to other specialists
  • Prior-authorizations for radiology
  • Prior-authorizations for IUD/ Implanon devices
  • Prior-authorizations for Medications
  • FMLA/Short-term disability paperwork
  • Updating/Submitting pregnancy risk forms
  • Cleaning exam rooms daily
  • Running autoclave daily

Medical Assistant Requirements and skills

  • Preferred work experience as a medical assistant
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Hands on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machine and printers)
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Customer service attitude

Schedule

  • No weekends
  • Monday: 8:00am-8:00pm
  • Tuesday: 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00am-12:30pm
  • Thursday: 8:00am-8:00pm
  • Friday: 8:00am-12:30pm
